Steve Lee REALLY Likes Guns

I’ve never been one of those guys who is romantic about firearms. I have always seen guns as indispensable tools for freedom. I’ve always focused on function over form.

Steve Lee from I Like Guns likes guns on a truly impressive level.  He’s an Aussie, and the current Australian firearms laws are terrifyingly fascist.  Nevertheless, Steve appears to have access to some very nice toys — probably by leaving Australia for this video shoot.

Check out the video you’ll most likely end up envious. Be sure to visit Steve’s web site and consider buying a copy of the album.

Gun Clip Art in Vector Format

My friend Dan over at Vector has posted some useful gun clip art in vector format.

Vector graphics from programs like Adobe Illustrator and Inkscape are much better for resizing and using in printed advertising than bitmap graphics from programs like Adobe PhotoShop, GIMP, and Windows Paint.

Cheap Used Guns

Americans are currently buying guns in record numbers.  Continued assaults by the government against the Second Amendment have driven up the prices of both firearms and ammunition.

Limousine liberals can afford to hire armed security guards to protect their cushy lifestyles, but many ordinary Americans are finding that Obama’s gross mismanagement of the economy is making it quite difficult for them to buy the tools they need to protect themselves, their families, and their nation.

Unfortunately, with prices rising out of control, it is more important than ever to arm yourself now.  If you wait, you will have to buy after prices have gone up even more.  Worse, you may not be able to find a gun to buy!  Or worse, it may not continue to be legal for you to buy a gun.

With prices rising as fast as they are, buying used firearms can be a very good cost-saving strategy.  Moreover, some firearms are more affordable than others, even at times like this.

  • Surplus military rifles from the WW1 era still work quite well and can be purchased at reasonable prices.  They are not pretty and ammunition can be hard to find for some of them, but they get the job done almost as well as a fancy new FN PS90.
  • A good 12ga pump shotgun works almost as well as a fancy Benelli M1, at a third the price.
  • A cheap revolver may be limited to six shots, but it’s a lot better to have a working revolver today than a picture of the HK USP Tactical you’ve been dreaming of.

Get yourself and your family armed today, while you still can.  With unemployment rising into the double digits, crime in the streets is almost certain to rise in parallel.

Firearms Refresher Course

I received this “Firearms Refresher Course” in email today, with a request to pass it on to ten free citizens.  I’m not sure there are any free citizens left in this once great nation, but here’s the document.

‘Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not.’   ~ Thomas Jefferson

FIREARMS REFRESHER COURSE

  1. An armed man is a citizen.  An unarmed man is a subject.
  2. A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
  3. Colt:  The original point and click interface.
  4. Gun control is not about guns; it’s about control.
  5. If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?
  6. If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.
  7. Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.
  8. If you don’t know your rights, you don’t have any.
  9. Those who trade liberty for security have neither.
  10. The  United States  Constitution (c) 1791.  All Rights Reserved.
  11. What part of ’shall not be infringed’ do you not understand?
  12. The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others.
  13. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.
  14. Guns only have two enemies; rust and politicians.
  15. Know guns, know peace, know safety.  No guns, no peace, no safety.
  16. You don’t shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.
  17. 911:  Government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer.
  18. Assault is a behavior, not a device.
  19. Criminals love gun control; it makes their jobs safer.
  20. If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson.
  21. Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to control them.
  22. You have only the rights you are willing to fight for.
  23. Enforce the gun control laws we ALREADY have; don’t make more.
  24. When you remove the people’s right to bear arms, you create slaves.
  25. The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control.

IF YOU AGREE, PASS THIS ‘REFRESHER’ ON TO TEN FREE CITIZENS.

The World’s Best AK-47

Do you remember when your mother would ask you “If all of your friends jumped off a bridge, would you jump off a bridge too? That’s the way I feel about AK-47’s.

Most of my friends own an AK-47.  Many of my friends own several AK-47’s.  And yet I have avoided buying one for years.

My reticence to invest in the AK-47 weapon platform has been driven partially by a focus on NATO calibers and partially by disdain for the poor manufacturing quality of most AK-47’s.

Arsenal, Inc. of Las Vegas Nevada is manufacturing AK-47’s which provide solutions to both concerns.

Arsenal builds AK-47’s in NATO 5.56 x 45mm (U.S. .223) caliber, as well as the Russian 7.62 x 39mm and 5.45 x 39.5mm calibers.

I would recommend that you select an Arsenal model that features:

  • U.S. manufacture
  • Milled receiver
  • Threaded muzzle
  • Bayonet lug
  • Black polymer furniture
  • Scope rail

The NATO buttstock works better for people with longer arms; the Warsaw Pact buttstock works better for people with shorter arms.

Caliber choice is an open argument.  I prefer 5.56×45 because I think that’s the ammunition I will be most able to find when civilization really collapses here in the United States.

The Perfect Deer Rifle

It seems to me that Savage Firearms is currently manufacturing the perfect deer rifle, the Savage Model 16FLSS.

The rifle is part of Savage’s “Weather Warrior” series. This means that the rifle is made in stainless steel with a durable synthetic stock. The combination gives the rifle an attractive look that will last for decades — even standing up to the abuse that I put a rifle through.

The rifle is very nicely light-weight. The .308 caliber (7.62mm NATO) version weighs just 6.5 pounds. This makes the rifle easy to carry for extended hunting trips.

The 16FLSS comes in a wide variety of calibers: .223 Rem, .22-250 Rem, .243 Win, 7mm-08 Rem, .308 Win, .270 WSM, .7mm WSM, and .300 WSM. The 116FLSS is available for long action calibers: .270 Winchester, .30-06, 7mm Rem Mag, .300 Win Mag, and .338 Win Mag.

.308 is fully adequate for deer, or any other North American game animal. .308 also has the advantage of being 100% compatible with 7.62mm NATO. This makes .308 ubiquitous and inexpensive — and it makes .308 a good caliber for a long-term investment.

Savage Rifles feature the Savage AccuTrigger, which is user-adjustable and quite effective and helping shooters maintain accuracy during the trigger pull.

The Weather Warrior series comes drilled and tapped for scope mounts, a practical necessity for the modern deer hunter.

Best of all, Savage rifles are prices very attractively. With Savage, you get top quality and features at very reasonable prices.

But for me, the greatest feature was Savage’s support for left-handed shooters. We southpaws don’t get a lot of love from most major gun manufacturers, so I very much appreciate Savage’s making the perfect deer rifle — and the perfect deer rifle for me.

5.56mm 30 Round Magazine Improvement Program

At the Joint Services Small Arms Systems Annual Symposium, Exhibition and Firing Demonstration, Adam Foltz of the US Army ARDEC gave a presentation on the 5.56mm 30 Round Magazine Improvement Program.

Magazines have long been one of the top causes of failure-to-fire conditions in M16/M4/AR15 type rifles.

Mr. Folzts presentation describes three areas of improvement for the magazines:

  • Improved follower and spring for current 30rd magazine
  • Redesigned composite magazine
  • Magazine feed lips inspection tool

Individually and together, these improvements will save the lives of American soldiers in the field while concurrently reducing the cost of magazines.

Civilian magazine manufacturers will also benefit from the Army’s research and development efforts, which will give civilian shooters access to lower-cost and higher-quality composite magazines. Plus, we will also be able to refit our existing magazines with the higher-reliability springs and followers. In addition, we will be able to test our magazines feed lips to know when we can use an aluminum magazine and when we need to repair or replace one.
